FAQS

Q Can we prevent cracking in the slab?
A We can never give a 100% guarantee against cracking.  Hairline cracks are better to be left alone.  More noticeable cracks can be grouted with a filler coloured as close to the existing slab as possible, grinded back and resealed, leaving it almost un-noticeable.  If you are pouring a new slab, speak to your concreter and let them know that you are planning to have the slab polished and they can then take extra precautions when preparing your slab.  If they have any questions, please ask them to contact us.
Q Can a colour topping be laid in a garage?
A A colour topping has to be at least 65mm think, to help prevent it cracking, therefore, in most cases there will be a lip where the concrete meets the driveway or internal door.
Q Do we have to have a high gloss finish?
A No, there are many different finishes available.  Have a chat with us about how you envision the finished product and we will tailor a sealer combination suited to your situation.
Q If we are building, when is the best time to start?
A The first cut, preferably should be done when just the frame is up.  This way we can get right up to the edges.  We then do a final cut and polish after the walls are complete, but not painted.  The concrete will need to be covered during the building process to prevent staining from plaster etc.
Q How regularly do the floors need to be maintained?
A This depends on the amount of traffic on the floors.  In a residence, with the right combination of sealers, your floors may need resealing and rebuffing in approx 5 to 10 years.  In a commercial environment eg. Restaurants, we recommend the floors be resealed and rebuffed every 12 months.  This is done by us at a minimal cost.
Q Do you provide free quotes?

Q Can we have polished concrete outside?
A Yes! We can tailor a finish for areas such as driveways, patios and even around your pool.  These areas can also be made slip resistant and UV resistant.
Q Can all concrete be polished?
A Generally speaking, yes. Extremely damaged concrete may not be a good candidate.  The best idea is to have us inspect the concrete so you can be sure.
Q How much does polished concrete cost?
A Cost will vary.  Existing work will cost up to 25% more than new work. Job size, site access and the finish you require are all factors.  Contact us for a free quote.
